I'm a farrier. I trim and shoe horses for a living, and I've spent years under animals that don't always want their feet held. In the fall, I guide backcountry hunts where the days are long and the pack on your back gets heavier with every kilometer. My wife Abby and I live in a tiny house in northern Canada with our three boys.
I needed to be genuinely strong long before I knew anything about training it well. And for years, I did it the hard way... long sessions, six days a week, the whole machine. Then I blew two discs in my back doing real work, and the machine stopped working.
I came back stronger because I learned to train the engine, not chase the soreness. I've out-worked people twice my size on a hard day in the mountains. Not because I'm built different. Because I figured out the version of training that actually holds up when the day demands something from you, and the version that just leaves you wrecked.
So I went and got certified... in fitness, nutrition, hormones, and gut health. Not for the letters after my name. For the actual answers. To understand why effort alone wasn't enough, and why so many capable people do everything right on paper and still feel stuck.
Then I spent years coaching real people through it, one at a time. Couples. Busy parents. Women rebuilding after babies or burnout. Men who just wanted to stay strong enough to keep up with their own lives. That work, more than any certification, is where the playbooks I write actually come from.
I'm not theorizing about any of this. I'm living it. Right now.
I don't sell transformation. I build capability. The goal isn't a body you photograph. It's a body that shows up... for the work, the kids, the hard day, the long life.
I don't sell complexity. I sell signal. Most people aren't doing too little. They're doing too much of the wrong things, then quitting when it doesn't fit.
I'm not against intensity. It's one of the best levers we've got. I'm against chaos dressed up as a program.
I don't separate the body from the rest of it. Faith, family, and the work are the same project. Strength is just one way you show up for all three.
I don't sell quick fixes. I'm playing the long game... and so are the people I build for. We're not chasing a 30-day result. We're staying capable, decade after decade, through every season life hands us.

Abby is my wife, the mother of our three boys, and the person I'd still rather spend a day with than anyone else on earth. Seven years and three kids in, through all the ups and downs life throws at you, she's still my best friend. We don't go off and do our own separate things to get a break from each other. The good day is the one we spend together.
And she doesn't sit on the sidelines of it. When a group of us heads out for a hard hike, she's the one woman who wants in... not because she's trying to prove anything, but because she loves the challenge and the adventure, and she wants the physical capability to actually do it. That's the whole point of how she trains.
Same method I use. Different weights, different season. Before our third boy she was up to seven chin-ups and twenty push-ups. Nine months postpartum, she's already climbing back. She's not training for a photo. She's training for her life. Different scoreboard than mine. Same game.
She's also why the women's side of what we build is real and not an afterthought. The plans for women come from her body, her seasons, her hard-won opinions... not from me guessing what might work.

What is AdventureFit, really?

What makes this different from other fitness coaching?
Most coaches sell surface tactics: strict macros, punishing workouts, trendy fads. I work from the inside out. The right kind of intensity instead of chaos. I'm not in great shape right now. Will I feel out of place?

Do you work with couples or families?
Yes, and it's some of my favorite work. Abby and I live this together: meals, training, raising kids, the outdoors, our faith. A lot of the people I've coached are couples or families who want the same thing. There's nothing like watching two people get strong and build a healthy household side by side.
Do I need to be motivated to start?
No. You need a system that works even when motivation fades, because it always does. I help you build structure, routine, and accountability so you're not relying on willpower. The work is designed for busy people and messy seasons. You bring the willingness. I bring the plan.
